Privacy Policy
Effective July 10, 2026
Slabscout is a browser extension that identifies trading cards on live streams and shows market
pricing. It is built to know as little about you as possible.
What we don't do
- No accounts, sign-ups, or passwords.
- No browsing-history collection. The extension only acts on Whatnot pages, and only when you press the scan key.
- No ads, no analytics trackers, no sale of any data to anyone.
What happens when you scan
- The video frame you capture is sent directly from your browser to Google's Gemini API using
your own API key, solely to identify the card. Google's handling of free-tier requests is governed by
Google's terms (free-tier content may be
used to improve their services).
- The card's text identity (player, set, year, card number — never the image) is sent to the Slabscout
pricing service to fetch market data. Requests carry a random install identifier used only for rate-limiting;
it is not linked to your identity.
- Sold and ask prices shown to you come from eBay's public marketplace APIs and licensed pricing data.
What we store
- In your browser only: your API keys and settings (Chrome extension storage). They never touch our servers.
- On our servers: anonymous card-market data (which cards were priced and the resulting market data),
used to make pricing faster and better for everyone. Nothing that identifies you.
Permissions the extension asks for
- whatnot.com — to add the overlay and read the stream frame you scan.
- storage — to keep your settings locally.
- generativelanguage.googleapis.com — to call Gemini with your key.
- our pricing API — to fetch card market data.
